In Islamic art, the hexagon is called Khatim Sulayman (The Seal of Solomon).
It was used by Muslim empires and figures like the Anatolian Beyliks and Hayreddin Barbarossa on their flags, as a tribute to Prophets Solomon and David.
The hexagon mainly served as decoration in patterns found in mosques, palaces, coins, pottery, tiles, and illuminated Qur’ans. Today, its association with Israel has led to its reduced use in Islamic art.
