Chunna Miyan ka Mandir , Bareilly

A Seth Fazlur Rahman, who was a rich businessman in Bareilly, UP owned a large piece of prime land in Katra Manrai, near Bara Bazar. His pet name was Chunna Miyan

In 1947 when refugees came from Pakistan they settled in this area And set up small temple on the empty land. Chunna Miyan sued them.

Then a priest from Hardwar held a satsang which he attended and had a change of heart.

Seth Fazlur Rahman not only withdrew his case but paid Rs 20700 for its construction and would come here daily to do shram dan

When I told Pandit I’ve come from Delhi to visit mandir( in Moharrum black so easily identifiable) he asked,”inki wajah se?”

I smiled, yes

His photo occupies pride of place in the temple.

Chunna Milan also went personally to Jaipur to get the idols of Laxminarayan and his consort and brought them to the temple

Today Chunna Milan is no more but the temple bears his name and is very famous.

The President of India Shri Rajendra Prasad inaugurated it in 1960

Chunna Miyan also built the Islamian Inter College in Bareilly
