“There are at least 100 tombs in South Delhi, and out of them, a third have problems of occupation,” explained historian Rana Safvi, who has made the registration of abandoned or occupied heritage sites a personal crusade.
Safvi pointed out that in some cases the monuments have been suffocated or swallowed up by new buildings, leaving them lost, deserted or even forgotten.
