Shaheed e Salis: Qazi Nurullah Shustri & the five martyrs of Shia sect

We have been going to Qazi sahib ki mazar in Agra, since we were children.
Our family had great faith in him and his shrine.
My grandparents are buried in front of the shrine.

Qazi sahib was Mughal Emperor Akbar’s Qazi and hailed from Iran.
In Jahangir’s reign he was accused of apostasy and on tje emperor’s orders flogged to death.
As we grew older we came across the term Shaheed e Salis but never really paid attention to tje term.
When i was researching for my book Shahjahnabad, The Living City of Old Delhi i came across the grave of Shaheed e Rabae in Panja Sharif Dargah in Delhi.
It was then that i realised there was a chronology of martyrs.
The first martyr or Shaheed e Awwal is Muhammad Jamaluddin al-Makki al-Amili al-Jizzini,(1334–1385).
Though not the first Shia martyr he became known as “Shaheed e Awwal” because he was probably the first Shia scholar of such stature to have been killed in a brutal manner.
His shrine is in Damascus.

Shaheed e Sani or second martyr is Zayn al-Din al-Juba’i al’Amili (1506–1558).
He was executed on the orders of the Ottoman Sultan in Istanbul.

Of these since i have visited the third and fourth martyr so posting photos of that.

Shaheed e Salis ( third martyr) is Qazi Nurullah Shustri (1542 AD-1610/11) is know. His shrine is in Agra

Shaheed e Rabae ( fourth martyr) Mirza Muhammad Kamil Dehlavi is buried in Dargah Panja Sharif in Delhi.

Shaheed e Khamis (fifth martyr ) is Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Muḥammad Bāqir al-Ṣadr (March 1, 1935 – April 9, 1980)
Shrine in Baghdad.
