The Chamkati Mosque, Gaur, West Bengal

The Chamkati Mosque is one of the earliest structures at Gaur, erected in 1478, as per its inscription preserved in the British Museum. It was built by Sultan Yusuf Shah, a sultan of Bengal.

It is also known as Chika Mosque because it used to give shelter to a lot of bats, which are known as Chika in Hindi.

It has beautiful terracotta decorations, seen in so many of the West Bengal temples.
