Urs Hazrat Roshan Chiragh Dilli

Urs e mubarak of Hazrat Chiragh e Dehli with Asif Khan Dehlvi on 16th July 2014

The word urs comes from uroosi – wedding as death for a Sufi Saint is Wisaal or union with the Beloved God

Yeh duniya mere Babul ka ghar

Woh duniya sasural

Asif Khan Dehlvi posted that day:

Today the pious Dargah of Roshan-e Chirag e Dehli (The illuminated lamp of Delhi) celebrates the annual Urs of this ‘murid’ disciple of Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. The township of Chirag Dilli which slowly and gradually built around the Dargah today shall be witness to Qawwalis and scores of people paying homage to the graves of their near and dear ones.

Nasiruddin Chirag Dehlvi, raised his voice against the autocratic policies of the then Sultan Muhammad Bin Tughlaq and supported his brother Firoz Shah Tughlaq to rise to the throne.

As the sun sets today in this now urban settlement of Delhi on the 17th day of Ramzaan, witness the pious place turn magical with prayers , blessings, and a spiritual aura which will envelope each of its patron.
