A ticket has to be bought to go up the southern minar. But it is worth it

The masjid looks as beautiful sidewaysis w

One climbs a flight of stairs from a tiny door near Gate no 3 and comes on top of the side gallery. Then we walk towards the dome
The second set of stairs takes one to the base of the dome. You are up close and personal with these majestic and beautifully conceived domes. Here the ticket is checked again.
This is the tower we have to climb up
You climb up 134 steps to the top. Its round and circular and winding. No place to rest or catch your breath. On top the minar arches are enclosed with wire mesh
One lady is resting on the top of the pillar around which the steps wind up
This is the minar we have climbed up. Tourists are allowed on the southern minar. There’s an identical one on the north side
A glorious view of the QIla e Mubarak aka Lal Qila or Red Fort can be seen from here
The sharqi or eastern darwaza of the masjid
The sheer gorgeousness of the domes and the perfection of the lotus finials is to die for!
A long shot of the courtyard
Is this Persian grafitti or just scratches on the wall of the minar just below the arches
A long shot of the courtyard
The tank for wuzu
On my way down I catch the inscriptions on the masjid arches
