Nawab Era Imambara in Matiaburj

The white baradari in Lucknow today used for weddings was originally named Qasr -ul Buka ( house of mourning) to be used for Majlis in Muharram and was set in Nawab Wajid Ali Shah’s grandiose Qaiserbagh.
So perhaps that’s why Akhtar Mahal Sahiba, one of the two nikah wives of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah who accompanied him to Calcutta built and named what is said to be the first imambara built in Matiaburj.
From outside as you can see its encroached and obviously worn out but the interior is well maintained.
