Pandeshwar and Karna Temple in Hastinapur

A visit to Hastinapur in 2014 took us to the Pandeshwar Temple. Hastinapur is said to be associated with Mahabharat and the Kauravas and Pandavas.

This temple is dedicated to Shiva. This temple is believed to be the place where the young Laura as and Panda as received their instruction in the Vedaa and Purana

According to legend Yudhishthira, had established the shivalinga at the Pandeshwar Mahadev temple before the war of Mahabharata and prayed to Shiva for a blessing to win the war.

Just nearby is a Karna Temple on an old ravine along the bank of the Ganges.

The Shivalinga inside the Karna Temple is believed to be established by Karna himself.

Karna was the eldest son of Kunti, theother of the Pandava brothers

One of the shrines there

The present temple is new but we found the remains of some old temple in the fields
