ShahJahanabad ‘s iconic Digambar Jain Mandir started as Urdu Mandir in a soldier’s tent in Shah Jahan ‘s reign, with 3 murtis from 1436 AD.

Urdu Mandir ( camp temple) in Urdu bazar or place where soldiers camped

Later on some Agarwal Jain merchants built a concrete temple.

The three main idols of Digambar Jain from 1436 are housed in the Sanctum Sanctorum

The area from Lahori Darwaza till here was called Urdu Bazar
