So let’s escape the summer heat into a slice of heaven. #NishatBagh in #Srinagar built by Asaf Khan ( Shah Jahan ‘s father in law)
Opposite #NishatBagh in the #DalLake is a beautiful old Bridge in shape of a camel’s hump
Dar goosh naseem guft saalash
Gulzar e Nishat wa aish e dil ha
1634 ( chronogram for year of construction of #NishatBagh #Srinagar
It is built on concept of #chaharBagh or four gardens of #Paradise
It is built on 12 levels with stone takht at edge of most of the levels
These water chutes or chadar had beautifully carved flowers in them which had holes. Apart from water flowing from top it would gush out from these too to create double effect
People enjoying themselves in the Nishat Gardens
Some fun on the 10th or is it 11th level?
I’ve lost count
Lost in contemplation!
I too wonder what it must have been when it was made
The Mughal gardens were beautiful planned and laid out with trees and bushes. Today what we see have been altered with English landscaping
The final level of #NishatBagh #Srinagar

However this building too has been modified
