#DastarkhwaneRamzan
While leading the fajr prayers in masjid e Kufa, on 19th Ramzan, 40Hijri/ 661 CE, Hazrat Ali was struck on the head by Ibn Muljim a Kharijite, with a poisoned sword.
Ali was in sajda & had just lifted his head, when the wound was inflicted.
Ali didn’t lose consciousness and said
Fuzto Ya Rabb Il-Ka’bah
(By the Lord of the Ka’ba I have succeeded)
~To understand these words one has to understand Hazrat Ali’s life and character.
At 10 years of age he became the first male to accept Islam. I use the word male not man, since he was yet a child. Khadija the Prophet’s wife was the first person to accept Islam. Ali was the second.
Throughout his life, Ali served Islam & Islam’s Messenger. He fought and won wars, slept in the Prophet’s bed on the night of hijrat.
Ali led an honourable life, full of heroic incidents, exemplifying futuwah or chivalry.
His wisdom is legendary, and the Prophet said that if he is the city of knowledge then Ali is its gate.
His statesmanship is unparalleled. His advice to the governor of Egypt, where he stressed on justice for all, because either a man is your brother in faith or brother in humanity.
So who can doubt that Ali had indeed been successful in fulfilling his destiny of being steadfast in faith and serving Islam.
Ali passed away on 21st Ramzan.
