Mujhe bhi ziarat karwao Allah ~
“This building is considered one of the most outstanding Islamic architectural structures that still stand today. It is located in the Holy City of Jerusalem near the Al Aqsa Mosque. The Dome of the Rock was commissioned by the Umayyad Caliph Abdul Malik bin Marwan in 66 H / 685 AD, and it was completed in 72 H / 691 AD by the engineers Yazid in Salam and Raja ibn Haywah.
The external structure is octagonal and each side is 20.95 meters long. On the inside, there is an octagonal aisle with each side 14.45 meters long. The interior aisle surrounds the Rock at the center of the building. The dome has a circumference of 20.44 meters and a height of 31.5 meters.
The Rock
The Holy Rock is at the center of the building. It is surrounded by a number of marble columns standing on a rock base reaching to, and supporting the dome. It is believed that the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) stepped on the Holy Rock before he ascended to the heavens during his miraculous night journey, known as ‘Al Israa wa Al Mi’raj! There is a cave under the Rock. This has an old mihrab. Therefore, it is sometimes referred to as the ‘prayer hall of the prophets. ”
