Farrukhnagar, named after Emperor Farrukhsiyar was established in 1732 by Mughal governor Faujdar Khan, who soon styled himself the first Nawab of Farrukhnagar.
It flourished due to its salt trade until the late 19th century, and was abandoned in the early 20th century, during the British Raj.
We walked it’s main street today with the Jama Masjid on one side and the Nawab’s residence Sheesh mahal a lite further down.in 1947 when the local Muslims migrated and Punjabi refugees came here, the Jama Masjid was converted into a Mandir and gurudwara.
