      Neeli Chatri Mandir

inHazrat-E-Dilli, Medieval Indian History, Our Cultural Heritage
      0

Nigambodh ghat is where it’s said Lord Brahma, the preserver of the universe got the knowledge of Vedas.
It is described in the Paddam Puraan and is today one of the holiest cremation ghat.

A Neeli Chatri Temple is said to have been reconstructed Yudhisthira on the Nigambodh Ghat. Here Lord Krishna and his brother Balram with Pandavas used to workship Lord Shiva.
It is believed that the eldest Pandava brother, Prince Yudhisthira of Mahabharata, conducted Raj Suyi Yagya which is done after defeating all the kings of the nation here.

The ghat is now across the road.
A pavilion is said to have also been made on the spot by Humayun.
      image
Nothing remains of original temple except the shivlinga acc to the Panditji but it’s very revered.
      image
The pavilion also has left no traces.

Yesterday I visited and as I belive God is everywhere I pray where ever I go.
When the priest doing the yagna blessed me I said InshaAllah. He looked up surprised then smiled and nodded.
      image

On top of it there is a Bhairav mandir where devotees were praying

      image

      image

One of the side rooms of the temple
      image

It is opposite the Zafar gate of Salimgarh
And can be accessed from the service road from Nigambodh/Jamuna ghat. It’s before the Nigambodh

My tweet earned me a precious compliment from Author Amish Tripathi
