Today is the International Day of Islamic Art:
Calligraphy is one of the most beautiful form of artistic and spiritual expression.
Abdul Haq Shirazi who was awarded title of Amanat Khan was given the charge of choosing and designing the exquisite calligraphy panels on the Taj Mahal.
Such was his stature as well as the importance given to calligraphy that he was given the signal honor of signing his work.
Calligraphic panels in the cenotaph chamber of the #TajMahal contain the signature of Amanat Khan.
He is the only artist/ architect whose name was recorded on the monument itself. The names of the others are known to us through documentary evidence.
